Riley is here! We are now a family of four!

It has been a very long time since I wrote one of these, but I am excited to start up again. Not much has happened, yet so much at the same time. Skipping a whole lot in between that I will try to elaborate on later, but let's talk about my baby girls! That's right, two!

Little sweet baby Riley Barrientos is now 3 months old! And Ellie? She is THREE! Almost 4 (in April). They do indeed grow fast...

Riley Barrientos was born on November 19, 2015.  Another precious surprise to me and Jaime, but this time a surprise for Ellie too!

Birth Story:

My waters started to leak around 5am on Thursday, the 19th of November. I wasn't so sure at the time, but we decided to get it checked out. I was very sure I would be sent home. But there I was laying down, having contractions (that just felt like tightening) while the doctors said before even testing the liquid that they were very much sure it was my waters-"perfect case example to show some of our students."
So anyways, there it was! I was getting admitted (only at 2cm and 50% effaced)! Me, who went to 41 weeks with my first. I was excited about not having to wait so long and that I wouldn't have to schedule an induction, but I knew I would still be put on Pitocin since it was already after 2pm and I had started to leak hours ago.
I was there for a couple of hours before we went ahead and started the Pitocin.
After so many check ins, of me still saying I wasn't in pain, and of raising the rate of administration of the meds, I finally started to feel my contractions after 7pm. They just kept feeling worse. Never in my mind did I imagine myself to be there yelling, panting, "breathing" through contractions. I don't know, it was just so new.
They checked me-I was only at 5cm. That's when I decided I would take the epidural. The epi guy came in pretty quick and got it done. BUT I was still in horrible pain. Then I could mostly feel the pain on one side. I really thought I needed to be put out-like no way, I could do one more contraction!
The nurse decided to check me- since I was still in so much pain, she thought I could have just progressed, been in transmission. And sure enough, I was already at 8cm. The epi guy had came back in and put more meds in or something...I was still yelling in pain, till finally it went away!!! THE BEST THING EVER. Then the doctor came in and checked me and I was at 10cm and ready.

I don't know if I would have said no to the epi had I known that I was there already. At the moment I was at a 5, and I just couldn't.
But from a period of about 30 minutes or so I went from 5cm to 10cm. Either way I was thankful. I felt great, I could still move and feel my legs, unlike my miserable experience with it when I had Ellie.
Finally I could push, and I could feel her coming, but no pain, barely even any pressure-again very unlike my previous experience. Just a few pushes and baby girl was out, just before midnight.
Ellie was there for the whole experience. She did great, mimicked me when I was doing whatever noises I was doing through my contractions. She understood what was happening because of all the video watching she did and was not scared.
Her and Jaime were at a close distance, while Riley entered the world. Jaime took a video of Ellie's reaction when baby came and cried and it's sorta funny.

 She has been an easy baby like her sister was. Not a crier- yes this mommy is lucky. And as you can see, she has a gorgeous smile. It is even sweeter when she opens her mouth so big, just pure happiness. But I am still trying to get that one on camera. I'm glad her dad got this one!

Since I posted last month's blog a bit late I had went ahead and let you know you already had gotten 7 teeth! Well guess what!? You now have eight teeth!!! :)

And might I add you finally walked on a walker! Cooper's walker to be exact!

You and I have been missing daddy for a long 23 days now, but we only have a week to go before we get to see him again! You do face time with him and I send him daily pictures and videos of you :) He misses you so much!! 

We had your first Valentine's Day! We went on a double date with Samantha and Cooper to Ruby's Tuesdays <3

...It is crazy, your almost one!!! Another important exciting thing I should mention is that we officially bought our ticket to go home and visit! I am very excited for  you to see them again :) BUT we are going to miss daddy so much while we are gone!

Nine Months Old

My Nine Month Old Gorgeous Baby....

 

Your growing and growing and I'm loving every bit of it!
You have a fifth tooth coming in now too!
You give your arms out more now when you want one of us to carry you.
Your not shy about asking someone else to carry you either! Just yesterday you asked Samantha to carry you because you wanted to play with her necklace :)
You like playing with all sorts of things! You especially enjoy taking my earrings off, even pushing my face away when I try to block you from my ear!

Although you still prefer to just go for the crawl, you walk along the couch already too :)!

We are so excited and anxious to see you walk!

You've been having a lot more play time now that your friend Cooper is back. I can tell you you enjoy it when he is around to play with.


Your first Christmas has passed us now too! You got a few toys but in all honesty you enjoyed the wrapping paper a whole lot more!

There is a lot to say, but since I'm late on this blog I'll have to save most of it for your next blog, when your 10 months old. But I guess I can cheat and let you know you have 7 teeth now :) & you enjoy to clap :) Your standing up alone a lot more, mostly on the mattress!

You make us happy every single day, do you know how amazing that is?!!

Your officially a perfect crawler, except sometimes when you want to move from one place to another quickly, you remind me of a dragging zombie in fast motion! I say that teasingly with love :)


You can officially pull yourself up! I'm hoping by the time your 9 months you will be able to move along holding on to something like our hugely stained couch-stained 99% by you! And I wouldn't have it any other way :)


You've already moved a few steps forward, holding on to the couch, but we still have lots to go and we are enjoying every step of the way!


Your top teeth are starting to cut out, you can see your right tooth more than the your left though.


You have been proving to be so much like your daddy!






You like marinara like your daddy too, but not spaghetti!



One way is that of being a picky eater just like him! Right now all you really like is apples and bananas. I have hope your palette starts to grow though.


Your babbling seems to be getting a bit clearer, you definitely say "mama" a lot :) Warms my heart every time.
We still haven't gotten your new car seat yet, but hopefully soon.


One more thing I want to share with you for you to remember forever, is how much I love it, when ever I come back from leaving you with daddy, even if it is that I stepped into the kitchen for a while, I love, LOVE finding these kind of pictures when I return :)

Mommy forgot to mention your very first Thanksgiving! I don't know how when you are the very gift we are thankful for!

  A couple of things happened during your 6 months of life, one of them being you got your first two teeth!  Look at that smile! :) We first noticed them on October 23rd and since then they've been growing out more. We didn't deal with too much fussiness or what not from you teething, but you would go crazy chewing things!

You have also been working on your crawling. You get frustrated after a while from being on your belly, but you have made a lot of progress. At first you dragged yourself and sometimes even went backwards instead of forward :). You now go longer distances and jump at your knees sometimes, but you haven't mastered it just yet. We are looking forward to it, I'm sure you will keep us on our feet!

 We put candy in front of you knowing it would take your mind off your the dino costume, but after that, it was hard to get your attention, but we managed just as well :)

This month we also started giving you baby food, your quite picky like your daddy, but so far your a fan of peaches and apples and bananas (together, you don't seem to like apples or bananas separately).
We got you a shopping cart cover this month too, so you can now sit on the cart comfortably instead of on your stroller, which we now take you on walks with, without the carrier. You sit there like a big girl :)

10/15/12

We will soon be buying you a convertible car seat and mommy will now get to go back to the passenger's seat! 
You babble a whole lot more now, the last time we went to the movies (probably our last for a while) I had to stand up with you, you did not want to be sitting down any longer than you had been and started to babble out loud. Mommy didn't mind though :) You mostly say "daddy" and "dada" and your voice is just so precious! You yell so loud sometimes, it is just too funny. I love when you speak to me!

We also started to give you bathes in our shower:

 We actually don't use the tub for you anymore though, we place a towel and you just sit on that now. 


Well my sweet angel, it is no secret, your growing more and more everyday! We love you so much and we always will!

Six Months Old!!!

Baby girl, your six months old today!!! I am one proud mommy! Not too much to update in your growth from month 5 to month 6, BUT enough...anything you do is enough to make us proud!!!
Today, October, 12, 2012 daddy took your 6 month old pictures during his lunch break :) Your napping this very moment, so I decided to use the time to update your blog.




As you can tell from the picture you are now sitting up without leaning to the front like mentioned in the previous blog! In fact, if you start to lean forward you get yourself right back up!!




You've been drooling extra these days, but still no signs of teeth...can't wait for those pictures!!









You are playing more and more with your toys and you love it!

You are so long! We bought you this saucer about a week after your turned 5 months and you didn't reach the bottom as much as you do now (like in picture). You also didn't enjoy it too much at first, but your enjoying it more and more. Your head also sticks out of your bath tub, but now that your sitting better, I've been bathing you sitting down so it all works out :)






Your interested in our Ipad and other electronics. Even the T.V controls!




Halloween is coming up and we still haven't decided what we are doing for a costume for you. Probably something cute and not necessarily a costume, but I will definitely post pictures. We are going to give out candy to anyone who stops by! I hope you enjoy seeing all the little kids around. I cannot wait till next Halloween to take you out and about so you can "trick or treat" yourself :)


We love you so much baby. Your family back in the states miss you so much! We hope to visit them again once you turn one.

4-5 months :)

My growing beauty,

your 5 months old already! Today is September 18,2012, and since our last blog you've grown in so many ways.


You started using your hands a whole lot more than before, grabbing at things (more than before), holding them without letting them go a lot longer, staring at your fingers, twirling your thumb between each of your other fingers. .You also enjoy playing with your feet, you even put your toes up to your mouth :)

 

And you seem to enjoying pulling at my hair, but it just makes me laugh :). Your always taking mine and your daddy's glasses off, a couple of times you've smacked them right off our faces!

Another thing you have started to do recently, is make noises I like to call your monster noises. I'm not sure if you are trying to say something or simply having fun with the things your able to do. I'll get a recording of that soon!


You can sit up unsupported only for a few seconds before you slowly start to lean your belly on your legs.






  As for crawling, we aren't there yet, but we keep giving you tummy time to help you get there. You like to play in that position, you do this thing that is like your gliding through the air. I'll have to get a picture of that. You also play around to were it is almost as if your doing push ups. You do that "push up" thing even when your in our arms, it's too funny. This has been since forever, but thought to point it out as it is definitely more obvious now how much you want to eat what we are eating! You stare at us like a hawk while we eat and sometimes try to grab at our food, especially when I'm holding you and eating at the same time :)
Another thing you've done for a long while now, but I don't think I've mentioned it, your always pouncing your arms against your stomach and chest, like a lil' gorilla. It is too cute!!
You also, again for a while now, get mad when we walk away from you. For example if you are in your daddy's arm, sitting down, I come by, but don't get you, you sometimes get mad and yell! You do the same to your daddy, whenever you guys are just hanging out and he steps out of whatever room for some reason, you sometimes get after him too! <3

This month, as always was full of blessings, but we also went through your first time of really being ill. We had to take you to the hospital over the weekend with a high fever, vomiting and diarrhea. Just until recently you completely were 100% better, with finally no diarrhea. The fever part was the worst. I could see it in you, how you were feeling and it hurt not being able to do anything, but you did find comfort in your mommy's arms- me! :) You were terca about not taking medicine and just wouldn't, throwing it up if you had happened to swallow some. But finally you are all better and healthy :)

Jungle River Cruise/Last pair of earrings you wore!

This past month you had your first boat ride! We went on a jungle river cruise, you seemed to enjoy looking around :)


We also decided to remove your earrings because your ears weren't looking healthy. We will leave it up to you in the future if and when you want to pierce them again.

You laugh and smile so much it makes everything worth while, we love you so much!
